Sian Titchener of Flõwan Studio blurs the line between art, design, and function. Guided by the flow of ideas, materials, and touch, each unique piece is handcrafted, merging design with contemporary artistry. She creates various works in wool, including rugs, wall hangings and also including works into her previous art installations.
"As the designer behind these unique rugs, I strive to achieve a painterly effect that extends my art practice into the realm of textile design. Crafted from 100% pure wool, our rugs showcase a blend of colours and shades that pay homage to a vintage aesthetic and craftsmanship. I prioritise sustainability by sourcing and reusing wool, including scraps and dead stock, alongside other high-quality materials such as Yorkshire wool, New Zealand wool, Italian mohair, and Peruvian alpaca. This commitment allows me to create pieces that are both distinctive and long-lasting. Embracing spontaneity, I do not fully plan the rug designs in advance; instead, I prefer to let the creative process guide me, allowing each rug to develop organically."
