Heather is a landscape artist who takes inspiration from local Bath scenes and places of natural beauty that are especially important to her. The sea features strongly in Heather’s work, especially the characterful fishing communities in Cornwall and the East coast of Scotland where she has strong ties.
Heather paints in oils. She began painting many years ago, whilst working in Chicago, USA and more recently successfully passed an Oil Painting Diploma taught by Martin Kinnear in Norfolk. She loves the way oils can be manipulated on board or canvas, pushed around to get the required effect, and enjoys using glazes and adding texture to her work with use of palette knives. During the diploma she also experimented with abstract landscapes that push the boundaries of her art, exaggerating the curves and swirls that we see naturally occurring around us to produce some original, dreamlike, pieces.
