Laura Newlyn is a portrait artist based in Bath, specialising in watercolours. Laura is passionate about painting people and capturing their unique character and likeness with every brushstroke.

She is especially drawn to painting children - there is something magical about their cheeky personalities, expressive faces, and joyful energy. This focus began naturally as Laura spent hours painting my own son, documenting his growth and spirit on paper. That experience sparked a deep love for creating portraits that celebrate childhood in all its wonder.

Laura’s style is influenced by contemporary artists who use impressionist and abstract techniques to capture emotion and likeness. She combines broad, expressive brushstrokes with finer detail to draw the eye to the most meaningful parts of each portrait.
